BAREILLY: Uttar Pradesh Madyamik Shiksha Parshad declared results of both high school and intermediate examinations on Sunday afternoon. This is the second consecutive year when results of both Class X and Class XII were declared on the same day. Like the previous year, girls once walked away with the laurels, outdoing boys in UP Board examinations in the district.

Girls also clinched higher passing percentage. However, boys bagged more topper position across Bareilly division as well as in the district.
Divisional topper in intermediate examination Yaduvendra Singh, a student of Draupadi Devi Inter College, in Badaun, told TOI, “My parents were my source of motivation and I want to serve as an IAS officer in future. Preparing side by side for civil services too helped me in achieving this feat.”
Yaduvendra Singh’s father Ganga Prasad, a government servant, said, “He scored 99 in maths while in all other subjects, including physics, chemistry, Hindi and English, he scored 96 marks.”
The second position was jointly shared by city boy Brijesh Kumar from Jai Narayan Inter College along with Prashant Kumar from Pandit Raghuvar Dayal Inter College Chilaua in Shahjhanpur district. Both Brijesh and Kumar scored 481 marks with 96.2% in intermediate examinations.
Sharing his success mantra, Brijesh Kumar, said, “Hard work and practical approach towards studies was my success mantra. Guidance from my older brothers, Tej Pal and Shri Dev pursuing graduation at Delhi University, and teachers helped me a lot.”

Son of a Uttar Pradesh constable Anoke Lal posted in Pilibhit, Brijesh Kumar scored 97 marks in chemistry and maths while 96 in physics and Hindi. He scored 95 marks in English. His proud father Anokhe Lal said, “He clinched top position at high school results too a few years ago and I was expecting similar results this time too.”
It was almost a similar story for high school toppers.
Sharing his success mantra, high school divisional topper Anurag Singh, a student of Om Prakash Singh Memorial Inter College, said, “It was regular studies of seven to eight hours a day that helped me in achieving this feat.” Underlining importance of revision, Singh said, “Repeated revisions and guidance of teachers’ help in clearing concepts helped me a lot and am looking forward to becoming a doctor .” Singh scored 570 marks out of 600.
Ritik Saxena, district topper hailing from Jai Narayan Inter College in high school exams, said, “I promised my father Dinesh Chand Saxena to be a topper in school. However, I never expected to be a city topper. I kept a healthy balance between studies and recreation, so studies and exam stress never took a toll on me. I listened to music and played cricket in my spare time.” Ritik Saxena scored 562 out of 600 at high school examinations.
The UP Board examinations were conducted at 142 examination centres in 360 schools across the district.
A total of 67,93,034 students from across state had registered to appear in the board examinations in around 12,000 examination centres.
As many as one lakh teachers were appointed to evaluate one crore answer-sheets of high school and intermediate examinees. The evaluation was to start from March 30 and was scheduled to be completed by April 13. But, owing to statewide boycott by two factions of teachers' associations in support of their three-point demands, the evaluation process was hit to an extent.
Congratulating both students and teachers on their success, district inspector of schools Gajengra Singh said, “Both teachers as well as students deserve to be lauded as the UP Board examinations are organised on a very large scale and the performance is getting better with each passing year definitely raising standards of government education system.”
He said, “Inclusion of OMR sheets to award marks was not only time saving but also helped teachers in evaluating answer sheets with accuracy. Both compilation and evaluation was carried together by around 3,000 teachers in the district alone who evaluated copies of both high school and Intermediate students at five examination centres in district.”
